Uttarakhand Chardham yatra
“There is always a large crowd of devotees on the first day of Yatra, where long lines of ‘darshan’ are seen in Kedarnath, Badrinath, Yamunotri and Gangotri,” said Prime Minister Dhami. The crowd, after the opening of the portals, is now controlled to some degree and Yatra is run in the best possible way. Pre-registration of pilgrimage is mandatory, ”said CM.
ACCORDING TO THE UTTARAKHAND TOURISM DEVELOPMENT COUNCIL :
According to the Uttarakhand Tourism Development Council, this year, more than 2 lakh tourists have visited Chardham; of which, 77,656 travelers visit Kedarnath alone, while 49,215 flock to Gangotri Dham, 46,405 Yamunotri Dham and 30,773 volunteers visit Badrinath Dham.
This year, Yatra registration also saw a new record as it has registered more than 10 lakh travelers. “To improve ‘darshan’, a capacity of 1,000 passengers has been increased at each Dham,” CM said.
Security forces and a team of health officials have been deployed on the pilgrim route by the state government. The Uttarakhand government has released new travel guidelines and restrictions on Char Dham Yatra. While visiting shrines, everyone is invited to follow the new guidelines.
UTTARAKHAND DGP SAID :
The Uttarakhand DGP recently stated that if the number of visitors to Char Dham Yatra increases, yatra may be canceled. The government has imposed restrictions on the number of pilgrims in each Dham and has made the registration of yatra mandatory. According to the latest reports, the number of tourists has increased in the Dhamm zone following orders from Prime Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami.
The number of visitors increased by 1000 over the previous day limit. According to the updated daily limit, 5,000 pilgrims can now visit Yamunotri daily, 8000 Gangotri, 13000 Kedarnath, and 16000 Badrinath. Previously, there was uncertainty about the daily limit on each Dham because Dhami said there was no limit on May 3 at the opening of Char Dham Yatra.

Uttarakhand officials made the decision due to crowd growth and disruption during Char Dham Yatra. CM Dhami told the media that the number of volunteers had been increased in each Dham. Dhami said it happens every time most people arrive in the first few days, and in this case, the excitement is great because the yatra occurs after a two-year delay. The number of pilgrims visiting the temples has exceeded the daily limit of 38,000 that was previously imposed. On May 8, the doors of the Shri Badrinath Temple were opened to pilgrims. On the first day, an estimated 20,000 pilgrims entered the temple, and an estimated 23,000 people visited Kedarnath Dham on the first day, May 6.
RTO OFFICE SAID IN HIS WORDS :
The RTO office said on May 10 that School Buses could be rented and used on Char Dham Routes if the number of passengers continued to rise sharply. On Sunday, the prime minister said the number of volunteers at Char Dham Yatra was higher than expected. He said the government was making all the plans available but the people were out of control in all four dams. He asked the volunteers to make arrangements for sleep and other things before they arrived.
Dhami said due to the low temperatures at night, visitors are facing a problem. “Although we have made adequate preparations, and we will continue to do more, I urge guests to plan their stay and darshan in advance,” he was quoted as saying by ANI.
