Uttar Pradesh New Rules For Women, no women will be forced to work after 7 pm & before 6 am in factories.
Uttar Pradesh New Rules for Women, To create a safe environment for women at work, the Uttar Pradesh government, led by Yogi Adityanath, said in a Saturday order that female workers at factories throughout the state do not need to work night shifts.
“No female worker shall be bound to work without her written consent before 6 am and after 7 pm”, said the government circular.
All offices in both the government and private sectors are reportedly required to comply with this rule, and violations can lead to government action. If a woman refuses to work after 7 pm, she will not be dismissed, which could result in heavy fines or serious charges for the company.
“After written consent, women can work between 7 pm and 6 am, be it from work from home or work from the office. If the employee is working in an office, then a free cab facility must be provided to the female employee,” a report by Times Now quoted Suresh Chandra, Additional Chief Secretary of the Labour and Employment Department of the UP Government, as saying.
In particular, the government states that companies must provide food and drinking water from offices to women working night shifts, and toilets and changing rooms must be accessible for women. If there are four other women in the shift then only the company can ask them to work at night, each organization needs a committee to prevent harassment of women.
The employer also needs to inform the regional inspector of the factory about the female working and accordingly the inspector will get seven days to make the proper arrangement and verifications.
The employer also has to send a monthly report mentioning the details of the women working at night shift and whether an incident happened while they were working.
The employer must have the consent in writing of the women who are doing night shifts without that serious action will be taken against them.
The new rule by the UP government will have a good impact on the condition of the women doing the night shift without proper facilities and infrastructure.
