Russia-Ukraine War: Prime Minister Modi last spoke with President Zelensky on February 26, just days after Russia invaded Ukraine.
According to official sources, Prime Minister Narendra Modi would speak to both Russian President Vladimir Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky today, amid desperate efforts to evacuate hundreds of Indians still trapped in the conflict zone.
Russia announced this morning that at 10 a.m. Moscow time, it will hold fire and open “humanitarian corridors” in several Ukrainian cities, including the capital Kyiv (12.30 PM IST). The corridors, which will also be opened from Kharkiv, Mariupol, and Sumy, are being built at the specific request of French President Emmanuel Macron and in light of the present situation in those towns, according to the Interfax news agency.
PM Modi is likely to chat with President Zelensky first before speaking with President Putin later in the day.
Since the battle began, Prime Minister Modi has spoken with Russian President Vladimir Putin thrice. He last communicated with President Zelensky on February 26, just days after Russia invaded Ukraine. That discussion came after India abstained from a UN vote condemning Russia’s aggression.
