He was last seen in the Netflix telecasted movie Meenakshi sundareshwar where he played the role of a Saniya Malhotra’s father, along with that this talented actor appeared in the movies like 2 states, Hichki, Nail polish, Rocky Handsome, Stanley ka Dabba,parinda, Kaminey and many more. His short appearance on the screen left a big impact on the audience as he was an actor and writer
He lost his son Jahaan 2 months ago due to a brain tumor.
The actor’s last rites took place on Monday morning with a Cremation happening at Mumbai Mokshdham Hindu Shamshandhoom from shisha, Yamuna Nagar, and Lokhandwala back Nagar, Andheri West.
Actor Ayesha Raza Mishra shared a post on her Facebook profile informing the demise of late actor by saying “Rest in peace shiv,aur kya bole( what more should I say) be free of pain and rest my friend.
The full note reads “with profound and heartfelt grief, we wish to inform you of the passing of one of the most dignified and noble souls to inhabit human form-our dearest Shiv Subrahmanyam. Incredibly talented, he was much loved and revered personally as well as professionally. We extend our heartfelt condolence to his wife Divya, her mum, dad, Rohan, Rinki, and family. Bhanu chitti and all of Shiv’s family.” Later she continued with details about the funeral.
Filmmaker Ashoke pandit too gave deep condolence to the late actor by tweeting “Details of our friend’s last journey. It’s shocking and sad. A great loss to the theatre, tv, and film industry.om Shanti”
“Along with that Bollywood actors also paid tribute to the actor by tweeting and posting on Instagram. Hansal Mehta tweeted “terrible news to make up to.Shiv Subramaniam gone. Heartbreaking; and his huge legion of friends and fans.”
Journalist Beena Sarwar mourned as she described the news as “incredibly tragic esp as it happened just two months after the passing of his and Divya’s only child-Jahaan, Taken by brain tumor two weeks before his 16th birthday”.
Shiv Kumar Subramaniam was born on 23 December 1959. He was 62 years old when he passed away. He was in military school in Pune from 1967 to 1976, after that he pursued his graduation in BA (English literacy) from st. Xavier’s college Mumbai.Shiv Kumar Subramaniam

He started his carrier as a screenplay writer. where he wrote the movie named “Parinda” directed by Vidhu Vinod Chopra in 1989. He didn’t not only write a screenplay but he also won a Filmfare award for “Parinda” and ‘Hazaaron Khwaishein Aisi” respectively for best story and screenplay. He started doing supporting actor roles too.
He played the role of Alia Bhatt’s father in the movie 2 states, he’s the role in the movie Hichki was as Rani Mukharji’s principal, the teacher in the movie Stanley ka Dabba.
Along with films and screenplay writing he was also seen on television shows, he played the role of a businessman, Mr.IM, in a tv show called Mukti Bandhan telecasted on colors tv channel.
