Many reports suggest that the Queen is descended from the late Tamil Nadu Prime Minister J Jayalalithaa. However, in an interview with IndiaToday.in, Gautham Menon said the series was not based on his life. Back in 2019, when the series was released, the Queen’s team was facing legal issues.
Gautham Menon said, “We took some inspiration from the book, and we came up with a story. If you find a similarity, then it’s not my fault, I think.”
The Queen, directed by Gautham Vasudev Menon and Prasath Murugesan, saw Ramya Krishnan as Sakthi Seshadri – an actor inspired from the former CM of Tamil Nadu and the late actor Jayalalithaa. The program divides Jayalalithaa’s life into three categories. It will focus on her life as a schoolgirl, a teenager and a stage where she joined politics, replacing MG Ramachandran after her death.
For the production of MX Player, the series is co-directed by Gautham Vasudev Menon and Prasath Murugesan of Kidaari fame.
