Zverev twisted his ankle while chasing the ball in front of the Court Philippe-Chatrier player box where the shocked team and his family were sitting.
As his sharp painful cry echoed around the pitch of 15,000 seats, worried Nadal was watching and Zverev, in tears, was wheelchair-driven. Minutes later, the 25-year-old boy returned with crutches to admit the match, and Nadal hugged him, full-heartedly.
Until the dramatic final minutes, Zverev pressed Nadal the whole match.
Riding a roller coaster, 91 minutes on the first set, Break Zverev in the opening game before Nadal equals 4-4.
Nadal’s French Open record is 110-3 (two defeats against Djokovic in 2015 and a year ago). He raised his outlook on the number of tournaments he would have played more than once in the last few days.
