JHANSI: A police detective sent to Jhansi was arrested on Saturday and jailed for raping the officer’s wife.
The suspect is being held at the Nawabad police station. According to a rape survivor, she is married to a police officer who was recently sent to Johannesburg. She accused the inspector of making a false commitment by marrying her who was ready to divorce her husband.
He raped her in this way but later refused to marry her. The survivor had filed a report in April against Porwal, who was suspended. However, he later withdrew his complaint to the police, saying that they had settled the matter.
On this basis, the police then submitted a final report (FR) to the case. According to the survivor, after the introduction of the FR, the inspector again refused to marry her and raped her during the interim period.
An unnamed police source said both the accused and the survivor were Kanpur’s childhood friends. He got married and came to Germany and later the defendant was also sent here and they re-established a relationship.
SSP Jhansi Shivhari Meena said, “The suspect has been remanded in custody and we are investigating.”
