A film starring Tom Cruise managed to break several records over the Memorial Day weekend. Top Gun Maverick won and gave the actor his first opening weekend in his thirteen year career. The film broke the records of Johnny Depp’s 2007 2007 Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End and has surpassed Rs 2300 crores worldwide and marches to another milestone of Rs 2500 crores worldwide.
Ramesh Bala has announced how Top Gun: Maverick broke the Memorial Day weekend record, breaking the 15-year-old Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End record.
He wrote on Twitter, “#TopGunMaverick All-time No.1 opening for #MemorialDay Weekend in #NorthAmerican – $ 151 Million .. Beats # PiratesoftheCaribbeanAtWorldsEnd’s $ 139 Million .. WW Opening $ 275 Million .. Best opening for @TomCruise (sic).”
Tom Cruise took his Twitter handle and thanked his fans for their great support. He shared, “Thanks to everyone who saw the #TopGun: Maverick and helped make it a historic opening weekend.”
While in India, the film, released on May 27 collided with Ayushmann Khurrana’s Anek and had to deal with the heat of the smash hit Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 starring Kartik Arayan, Kiara Advani and Tabu.
The film is expected to hit more than 20 million this weekend. According to the Box Office India report, “Top Gun Maverick is doing fair business during the day and should collect about 19.50 crore netts in his first week and should do well on Saturday and Sunday and earn 30 crore nett points by the second Friday.

The world’s first show of Tom Cruise star car, ‘Top Gun: Maverick’ took place at the 75th Cannes Film Festival. The show ended with a five-minute cheer for the crowd. In the film, Tom Cruise also met ‘Oblivion’ director Joseph Kosinski. Val Kilmer repeats his role as the “Iceman” rival of the series, while Jennifer Connelly, Jon Hamm and Ed Harris also play.
