In a statement, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) said many instances of non-compliance with aviation rules were being considered.
“After that a series of checks were made by the DGCA and during our surveillance in Bengaluru, Hyderabad and Delhi, there were cases, in the case of Air India – where the regulation (regarding passenger compensation) could be followed and, as a result, notice of cause was issued to the company. of aviation and personal hearings, ”states a DGCA statement.
According to the regulator, Air India may not have a policy in this regard and does not charge compensation to passengers.
“Very little, it is a matter of great concern and unacceptable. In some cases described in the notice of cause of the exhibition, after passing the AI submission, as part of the enforcement action, the competent authority has to impose a fine of Rs. 10. lakh,” he notes.
“In addition, the airline has been advised to put in place early plans to resolve the issue – if not further action will be taken by the DGCA,” he added.

The fine is charged by the airline for failing to compensate passengers who were denied boarding despite having official tickets and being at the airport / on-time.
Earlier the DGCA also imposed a fine of Rs 10 lakh on SpiceJet for training 737 Max pilots in a faulty model. On the other hand, he imposed a fine of Rs 5 lakh on IndiGo for not allowing a boy with special needs to board a plane from Ranchi.
No compensation is payable if the airline arranges another scheduled passenger flight within an hour.
