Andrew Symonds former all-rounder of Australia dies at the age of 46 in a tragic Road Accident!
Andrew Symonds Former Australian died in a car accident outside Townsville on Saturday Night. He was 46 years old. He was married to Laura and has two Children Chloe and Billy. One of Australia’s greatest all-rounders, Symonds has held 26 tests, 198 ODIs and 14 T20Is in Australia and is a two-time World Cup winner.
He was Travelling solo and his car crushed just outside of Townsville in his home state of Queensland and Police said that he died on the spot.
Police said in a statement that “according to interim information, the vehicle veered off the road and overturned shortly after 11 p.m. while driving along Hervey Range Road near the Alice River Bridge.”
Emergency services tried to resuscitate him but the 46-year-old died of injuries on the scene.
His death is the second most famous Australian cricketer to die tragically in 2022 after cricket champion Shane Warne died of a heart attack in Thailand in March.
Former wicketkeeper Rod Marsh also died of a heart attack earlier this year.
Former Australia captain Allan Border was among those who paid tribute to Symonds on Sunday.
He was widely regarded as one of the greatest all-rounders in Australian cricket history, bowling both off-spin and mid-face, playing hands that won many with explosive mid-range shots.
Symonds was also a first-class outfielder and was instrumental in winning the 2003 and 2007 World Cups in Australia. He used to play very firecly and was one of the aggressive player on the ground.
The whole cricket fraternity is mourning after hearing this devasted news.
Domestically, he played for Queensland for 17 seasons, playing for Gloucestershire, Kent, Lancashire and Surrey for the English County Championship, and for the Deccan Chargers and Mumbai Indians in the Indian Premier League.
