Marathi actress Ketaki Chitale is in trouble with three additional lawsuits filed against her.
Actress Ketaki Chitale, 29, posted a Marathi poem from another person on her Facebook profile, mentioning only the surname (Pawar) and age (80). But it also mentions the physical illness that the 81-year-old NCP leader is suffering from.
A Marathi actor and a Maharashtra pharmaceutical student were arrested on Saturday for posting derogatory comments on social media allegedly targeting Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader Sharad Pawar.
The posts shared by Chitale are written in poems allegedly written by someone else. The references to power included lewd phrases such as “Hell is waiting” and “You hate Brahmin.” The post, put up on Friday evening, earned 7,400 likes and was shared by 585 people in 24 hrs.
The two posts caused massive anger among Maharashtra’s NCP officials, and leaders rushed to several state police departments to complain.
Chitale is booked under three FIRs by three police stations in Pune, Pimpri and Thane.
She was arrested by the thane’s criminal department. They charged her with Section 500 (defamation), Section 501 (printing or engraving of defamatory material), and Section 153A (promoting hatred among various groups) and will investigate the matter.
