24-yr-old dies: The incident happened around 9am when Verma and two friends returned in their car after leaving their friend and went out to answer a natural call to Sector 56.
A 24-year-old man died after allegedly falling into an open pit in Faridabad on Saturday night. Police said the man was identified as Harish Verma, whose name was Honey, a resident of Lakadpur. His family said he worked for a private banking unit.
The incident happened around 9am when Verma and two of her friends returned in their car after leaving their friend and went out to answer a natural call to Sector 56.
Recounting the incident as told by Verma’s friends, his father Dhyan Singh said: “My son went to free himself near the green belt at Sector 56, his friends waiting in the car.
When he did not return, they searched for him. Using their phone flashlight they saw foam in the hole hole. As it was getting dark, my son must haven’t noticed it and fell into it … it was over 60 feet [20 m] deep and had a depth of 10 feet [10 m]. ”
His friends then called together the people who were trying to rescue him. A nearby police team arrived but were unable to rescue him. Firefighters were called, my son was pulled out of the ropes and taken to hospital but it was still night, ”said Singh.
“This is negligence on the part of the authorities. If the hole had been covered, my son would not have had this tragedy, ”he said, adding that the family would lodge a complaint with the police or go to court for action.
His father said they were looking to marry him: “Talks were going on about his marriage for the next two to three months. We were about to finish the day. He had just entered the profession and was about to settle down. We will still accept the loss. ”
According to police, they received information about the incident at the Sector 55 police station at 9.30pm and arrived immediately at the scene. Police said with the help of firefighters, the victim was taken out of the dungeon and taken to a private hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Faridabad police spokesman Dube Singh said, “The victim’s family has not yet lodged a complaint. We conducted an investigation under CrPC Section 174 and handed over the body to the family after an autopsy. ”
Police said they were looking at which officer was in charge of the area.
A young banker is suspected to have died after falling into an open pit on Sector 56 in Faridabad on Saturday. Her body was handed over to the family after an autopsy and an ongoing investigation. Police did not register the FIR without a complaint from the deceased’s family.
When they heard his cry, his friends ran to find him with the help of a flashlight.
An emergency vehicle arrived nearby. Police tried to rescue Verma with the help of a rope, but after failing to do so for 20 minutes, they had to notify firefighters. Firefighters eventually evacuated Verma and took her to a hospital, but doctors told her she was dead.
In a statement on Monday, Faridabad police said Verma’s father, Dhan Singh, had told police his son was working for a bank in Jasola south of Delhi. On Saturday, he and two of his friends came to Sector 56 to do some work. “According to Dhan Singh, his son lost his strength and fell into a ditch and his friends reported him to the police,” the statement said.
He is survived by his parents, brother and two sisters. Speaking to TOI, Verma’s younger brother, Gaurav, said he had a good relationship with his brother, dumped him in his office and picked him up every day. Disagreeing with the police, Gaurava said, “First of all, we do not know how the police came to the conclusion that Harish had slipped. My father was not in a position to know this. His friends also said nothing about it. Most holes here have no covers, and this is dangerous. It is gross negligence on the part of the authorities. ”
