A woman who was rescued by Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) workers while trying to end her life at Akshardham Metro Station on Thursday morning died from her injuries.
A 22-year-old woman, from Punjab’s Hoshiarpur, jumped from the second floor at 7.30am at Akshardham metro station. CISF staff, with the help of government officials, grabbed him by the clothes.
He was taken to hospital and died around 8.45pm. The woman was receiving treatment at a hospital in Gurgaon a few days ago. According to a CISF official, as the woman was seen this morning, “a team tried to stop her, while another team, with the help of community workers, planned to seize a blanket. The reason for the action was not immediately clear,” sources said.

“Because of the severity of the fall, he suffered serious injuries but his life was spared. He was rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment,” the CISF had said earlier. For the uneducated, CISF provides anti-terrorism cover to the Delhi Metro rail network.

The woman was taken to Lal Bahadur Shastri Hospital for treatment when doctors said she suffered multiple back and leg injuries. At around 8pm, doctors found her dead, police said.
