Following a landslide victory in the Punjab election, AAP’s Bhagwant Mann will take the oath of office as chief minister on March 16 in Bhagat Singh’s hometown.
Bhagwant Mann of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), who is due to be sworn in as chief minister of Punjab on March 16, has issued orders stripping security for MPs and MPs, including many VVIPs, in the state. According to Mann on Saturday’s order, except for the Badal family, who were given security on the instructions of the Union Home Ministry and former CMs such as Captain Amarinder Singh and Charanjit Singh Channi, the security of all other Congress attendees, and Akali Dal’s leaders were lifted. Meanwhile, Punjab Prime Minister-elect Bhagwant Mann has claimed the right to form a government in the state after meeting Governor Banwarilal Purohit here on Saturday. “I met the governor, delivered the letter of support from our deputies and demanded the formation of the government. He told me to tell him where we wanted to hold the swearing-in ceremony. It will be held in Bhagat Singh’s home village of Khatkar Kalan at 12:30 p.m. on March 16,” he said. The AAP won 92 seats in the 117-member Punjab Assembly, decimating the Congress and the SAD-BSP Combine and their candidates defeated several of the loyalists, including incumbent Prime Minister Charanjit Singh Channi, SAD Patriarch Parkash Singh Badal and former Prime Minister Amarinder Singh
