Ed Sheeran Grammy-winning musician to perform for Queen and her deceased husband during a special celebration on June 6th.
Ed Sheeran will play the love song “Perfect” at the Jubilee Competition, giving a moving complement to the Queen and her late husband, Prince Edinburgh.
Before the national anthem, Sheeran sings a romantic ballad at the finale of the carnival procession through the streets of London on Sunday.
When he plays, images of the Queen and Philip fill the huge screen that surrounds the stage.
Queen and Philip married for 73 years and spent much of his year on royal missions.
The Queen described it as her “strength and patience.”
He died at the age of 99 during a pandemic last April.
Other compliments to Philip appear on the pageant, with a rendition inspired by Bollywood on the Queen’s and Duke’s wedding day.
Containing a sound system that plays the classic Hindi wood national anthem, a 20-foot wedding cake with 250 Bollywood dancers descends into the mall to rethink the 1947 wedding celebration.
A rendering of Philip’s beloved yacht Bluebottle appears in Queen’s Favorite, which also includes doll corgis and horses.
The Platinum Jubilee celebration is the first major milestone after the Queen’s death that she has spent with her since she became Queen at the age of 25.
At the 2012 Diamond Jubilee, Philip joined a fleet of 1,000 ships along the Thames and was with the Queen for river competition in very moist and windy conditions.
But the next day he was hospitalized for a bladder infection and missed the Jubilee concert and Thanksgiving services.
On the final broadcast of Christmas, the Queen looked back on her sorrow for a year, admitting her husband’s death, she said, “lacking her familiar laughter.”
She personally paid tribute to her “beloved Philip” and said that his “gloomy and suspicious sparkle was as bright as when I first saw him.”
After Philip quit his royal duties in 2017, he is said to have spent a lot of time in Sandringham, enjoying painting and reading in the sanctuary.
However, in the final stages of marriage, the couple lived together to protect themselves from the coronavirus pandemic at Windsor Castle.
