“This film will mark my return to acting,” Kareena Kapoor
Kareena Kapoor has been off screen since giving birth to her second baby, Jehangir aka Jeh. However, we have some good news that will delight her fans: the actress will soon be making her OTT debut with Sujoy Ghosh’s upcoming film.
The actress gave fans a preview of her upcoming project, starring Jaideep Ahlawat and Vijay Varma, on Monday. Sharing the post on her Instagram account, she wrote, “And so it begins…12th Street Entertainment & Northern Lights Films in association with Boundscript and Kross Pictures presents a Netflix Original directed by Sujoy Ghosh. Produced by Jay Shewakramani & Akshai Puri .
Produced by Sujoy Ghosh and Thomas Kim.” Kareena Kapoor will make her debut in Netflix’s film adaptation of Japanese author Keigo Higashino’s The Devotion of Suspect X.
The actress confirmed the news to Hindustan Times, saying the project marks her return to acting after Jeh’s birth.
The actress went on to say that she was very excited about the project as she will be working with an exceptional cast and crew. Speaking about the project, Kareena Kapoor said: “The film is a film adaptation of a work that was a worldwide bestseller in the hands of our inimitable director Ghosh, it’s something I’m delighted to start working on. .” Praising the director, she added: “I’ve seen his (Ghosh) films and of course I love his work. I love that he has his own method and style and is so sure what he wants to do…every actor appreciates a director with a vision. I connected to the script.”
Kareena Kapoor is not the first of the Kapoor Khan family to venture into the OTT world. Her husband and superstar Saif Ali Khan has worked on two streaming projects on OTT platforms – Sacred Games and Tandav.
Bebo’s older sister Karisma Kapoor has also made her comeback to the acting world with Mentalhood streaming on ALTBalaji. On the work side, Kareena will soon be appearing on Laal Singh Chaddha with Aamir Khan. The film is scheduled for release on April 11.
