RCB guard Harshal Patel left the IPL 2022 biobubble on Sunday after the game against Mumbai Indians.
Royal Challengers Bangalore players were seen wearing black ribbons on the pitch at DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai on Tuesday (April 12) during their match against Chennai Super Kings.
Commentators said the RCB players wore the ribbons to show solidarity with team-mate Harshal Patel, whose sister died earlier this week. The Pacer left the tournament biobubble to be with his family during these difficult times.
RCB sources said Harshal left the bubble on Sunday after the game against Mumbai Indians.
It is not yet clear how long Harshal will be out of the RCB squad.
This is a blow for RCB as Harshal Patel was IPL’s leading wicket taker in the 2021 season, winning 32 wickets. He also excelled in their previous match against Mumbai Indians, winning two wickets for 23 runs.
Speaking of the match, RCB skipper Faf du Plessis won the draw and chose the field against CSK.
Australian pacemaker Josh Hazlewood and Indian youngster Suyash Prabhudessai secured their place in the Playing XI for RCB.
On the other hand, CSK remains unchanged.
