Mumbai Indians have bought out Ishan Kishan at IPL 2022 auction for a staggering price of Rs 15.25 crore, but So far, the investment hasn’t paid off as the Jharkhand shooter has only racked up 321 runs.
A high price creates unimaginable pressure and for this reason Ishan Kishan, the most expensive purchase in the IPL 2022 auction, has been advised by current India captain Rohit Sharma and his predecessor Virat Kohli not to sleep on anything which is not under his control.
Mumbai Indians bought Ishan at auction for an astonishing price of Rs 15.25 crore but so far the investment has not paid off as the Jharkhand dasher has racked up only 321 runs.
Kishan agreed that price pressure was on his mind at first, but his Indian elders specifically told him not to worry too much about the issue.
“Price pressure will continue for a few more days, but then you feel the pressure, so it’s always good to talk to seniors and share your concerns. So many seniors like Rohit (Sharma), Virat Bhai (Virat Kohli ) and Hardik Bhai (Pandya) said don’t think about the price because I didn’t ask for it. If anyone believed (in me), he (offered that amount),” Ishan said before the match. MI vs Chennai Super Kings.
At the highest level, you can’t overthink these things because the focus is on leading the team to victory.
“Rather than thinking about price, what’s important is how I think about improving my game and being in that zone.It helped that I spoke to the seniors because they all went through this phase and were able to understand how I felt.
He feels a bit lighter after his talks with Rohit and Virat.
“Now I feel light and the price is secondary now. It doesn’t matter if you are sold for a base price of Rs 1 crore or a premium offer of Rs 15.25 core. The important thing is that you help your team to win and that you help others achieve that goal as well.”
Captain, the coach asked me to play my natural game.
Ishan said captain Rohit and head coach Mahela Jayawardene asked him to play his natural game.
” The captain and the coach asked me to play my (natural) game. Everyone has roles in the team and for me there have been good starts and when I’m ready I have to try not to go out in the 30s and 40s and convert them into big points.” said the lefty.
