Indo-Nordic Summit 2022, Leaders from Denmark, Iceland, Finland, Sweden and Norway will also attend the India Summit it was first held in 2018.
Indo-Nordic Summit 2022, Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Denmark on Tuesday as part of the second itinerary of a European tour from three countries.
Modi arrived from Germany to hold detailed bilateral meetings with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz and co-chaired the intergovernmental consultations between India and Germany.
With a special gesture, Danish Prime Minister Frederiksen welcomed PM Modi at the airport.
“I travelled to Copenhagen, where I had a bilateral meeting with Prime Minister Frederiksen, allowing me to consider the progress of my green strategic partnership with Denmark and other aspects of bilateral relations,” said the Prime Minister.
India-Denmark: A green strategic partnership was established during the virtual summit in September 2020. This partnership was transformed into a results-focused five-year action plan for Prime Minister Frederiksen’s visit to India in October 2021.
He will also meet Queen Margrethe II. He will also participate in the India-Denmark Business Roundtable to interact with ths Danish Indian community.
More than 200 Danish companies in India are actively involved in the further development of Make in India, Jal Jeevan Mission, Digital India and other important national missions.
More than 60 Indian companies in Denmark, primarily the IT sector, are further strengthening bilateral relations in business-to-business transactions.
Denmark is home to 16,000 powerful Indian diasporas.
In addition to his bilateral involvement with Denmark, he will also attend the 2nd Indo-Nordic Summit with the Prime Ministers of Denmark, Iceland, Finland, Sweden and Norway where they will take the stock of the corporation since the 1st Indo-Nordic Summit in 2018.
The summit will focus on issues such as post-pandemic economic recovery, climate change, innovation and technology, renewable energy, evolving global security scenarios, and cooperation between India-Nordic corporations, in the Arctic, “said Modi.
The summit will be dedicated to economic interaction, green partnerships, mobility and cooperation in the Arctic region.
Prime Minister Modi said, “With the summit as an opportunity, we will also meet with the heads of four other Nordic countries to review progress in India’s bilateral relations.”
“Nordic countries are important partners of India in the fields of sustainable development, renewable energy, digitalization and innovation. This visit will help expand multi-faceted cooperation with the Nordic region,” he added.
Trade between India and the Nordic countries is more than $5 billion (202021) and cumulative FDI is more than $3 billion (April 2000 – March 21st).
