According to an official, police have filed a case for rape and molestation under various sections of the Indian Penal Code, but have yet to make an arrest. Over the last five years, the crime has been committed.
A minor was allegedly raped separately by her teenage brother and father while her grandfather and a distant uncle assaulted her, Pune police said on Saturday, adding that the crime was committed within the last five years.
Police have registered a case under different sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) for rape and indecent assault, but have yet to arrest anyone, an official said. While a rape case has been filed under Section 376 of the Indian Penal Code against the brother and father (45) of the now 11-year-old girl at Bundgarden Police Station in the city of Pune, her grandfather (aged around 60) and a distant uncle (aged around 25) were sentenced under Section 354 (murder or criminal violence against a woman with intent to insult her modesty), she said.
The victim and his family members are from Bihar. They currently live in Pune. “The incident erupted when the girl opened up during a ‘good and bad contact’ session at her school. Their ordeal has been going on for five years,” said Police Inspector (Crime) Ashwini Satpute The father began sexually abusing his daughter in 2017 while they were living in Bihar, Satpute said, citing the complaint,
“The daughter’s older brother began sexually abusing her in November 2020. Her big -father and her distant uncle used to touch her inappropriately,” the police inspector said.
Satpute said that because all the incidents happened separately and the defendants were unaware of the actions of the other, it was not a gang rape.
Sections of the Protection of Children Against Sexual Offenses Act (POCSO) are added.
