ICAI 2022, is all set to host 21st Accountants World Congress for the first time in 118 years.
ICAI 2022, For the first time in its 118-year history, the World Congress of Accountants (WCOA) is hosted by the Indian Institute of Certified Public Accountants. The prestigious event, known in India as “Accounting Olympiad” or “Accounting Kumbha”, will be held from November 18-21 this year at Gio World Center,Mumbai. Dr. Debashis Mitra informed about the orientation program held in Calcutta, attended by over 100 members from all EIRC of ICAI of Eastern Region chapters.
More than 6,000 top accountants from 130 countries around the world will physically participate in the program.
Here is what Dr. Mitra said on this occasion:-
“It’s a proud moment for ICAI to host the World Congress for the first time in 118 years of history, surpassing France in this round,” said Mitra.
Dr Mitra said “C.A’s played a pioneering role in helping the government adopt the GST regime, and ICAI is now early-adopting new digital skills and technologies such as artificial intelligence, blockchain ecosystems and cryptocurrencies. Not only did he say they were ready to address the challenge and deep data analysis.”
“ICAI’s Digital Accounting And Assurance Board (DAAB) has set up a research group to address the accounting problems that arise from the rapid pace of digitization, from an auditing, accounting and technology perspective. Investigating cryptography, blockchain, artificial intelligence, big data, in-depth analysis, etc. The idea is to develop a knowledge base, make auditors technically compliant, and make them available for future use” Dr. Mitra said.
ICAI 2022, has also submitted to the Department of Corporate Affairs (DCA) Government of India, a blueprint of a new curriculum that is in line with the government’s new education policy, taking into account technological advances.
