In another dramatic development on the Hijab ban list in Karnataka, two students who first applied to the court to allow the Hijab within the classrooms today were expelled from their final 12-board exam center after insisting they take the test. exercises wearing burqas. They tried to convince the invigilators and the principal of the college for about 45 minutes but ended up with nothing but a court order upholding the country’s government ban. Then they appeared to come out quietly without writing tests.
The tests, which began on Friday, will run until May 18. The first paper was Business Studies. More than 6.84 lakh students will write exams at 1,076 institutions across the province. The tests will be held at 1 076 centers across the province as security is tightened as police have been deployed at various centers to ensure that there are no serious incidents involving students following the dress code.
WHAT EDUCATION MINISTER SAID :
Provincial Education Minister BC Nagesh has stated unequivocally that students will not be allowed to write their exams wearing the hijab. This comes after many Muslim female students asked the Minister to allow them to wear their hijabs during the final exams.
Many Muslim girls who came to the test wearing a hijab said that they would take it out inside a separate enclosure and wear it again after the end of the test.
“Hijab is just as important as writing and passing exams. Our future depends on our test results,” a Muslim girl student told reporters in Bengaluru, PTI reported.
Aliya Assadi, a 17-year-old leader who was at the forefront of the Hijab ban last year, made a new appeal to Prime Minister Basavaraj Bommai, saying he still had a chance to “prevent our future from being ruined”.
In her complaint, Aliya, a karate champion at the state level, said the ban on hijab or handkerchiefs would affect many students who wanted to appear in Pre-University exams.
“You still have a chance to stop our future from being wasted. You can decide to let us write exams wearing the hijab. Please consider this. We are the future of this country,” he wrote on Twitter.
The Karnataka High Court on March 15 dismissed applications for permission to wear the hijab inside the classroom. In support of the state ban, the court ruled that wearing the hijab is “not an important Islamic practice” and that the law of uniforms should be followed in educational institutions where it is prescribed.
Last month, more than 40 Muslim girl students from Udupi on the Karnataka coast avoided appearing in the first pre-university exam as they were apparently hurt by a Supreme Court decision.
The girls have also boycotted practical exercises.
The Supreme Court has rejected an urgent hearing on appeals against a Supreme Court decision.
KARNATAKA POLICE SAID :
Meanwhile, Karnataka police have arrested All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) leader and pastor, in connection with the Hubballi violence recently over allegations posted on social media.
Police sources said the pastor identified as Waseem Pathan, who was arrested in Mumbai on Wednesday night and brought to Hubballi on Thursday morning. In other news, Karnataka Prime Minister Basavaraj Bommai on Thursday made it clear he did not have another soft point for the Janata Dal (National) regional party.
Also, Karnataka police Criminal Investigation Department officials arrested a Congress MLA shooter and a police officer on Thursday in connection with a recruitment scam, bringing the total number of arrests in the case to 10.
Aam Aadmi Party party leader and Delhi Prime Minister Arvind Kejriwal said in Bengaluru on Thursday his party would form a government in Karnataka after next year’s elections and that it would be a “zero percent commission government”.
Earlier, six Udupi students, who had gone to the Karnataka High Court seeking permission to enter classrooms wearing hijabs, had asked the education department to allow them to appear in the hijab exam. But the government has rejected their appeal, citing a Supreme Court ruling that upheld the law.
PU experiments begin across Karnataka
About 6,84,255 students enrolled in PU examinations throughout Karnataka, which started on Friday. A total of 621 students will be writing the Logic exams today, and 2,35,498 will be studying Business Studies.
