New DelHI: A student and teacher at a Delhi school have been tested for Covid, after which all their classmates in the affected student class have been repatriated.
New infections at a privately held school in the national capital have been reported near the heels of Noida and Ghaziabad affiliated schools reporting new cases.
The disturbing news also comes a day after Delhi recorded new Covid-299 cases – up almost 50 percent of the previous 202 cases.
Atishi, a Member of Parliament and senior leader of the ruling Aam Aadmi Party, said, “There are reports that a child and a teacher are receiving Covid. Some classmates have been repatriated. We are following the situation closely.”
Reports of campus infection have caused concern over the past few weeks as schools reopened offline classes after a two-year gap due to the epidemic. Long-term closure of schools due to Covid has had a devastating effect on education, with half of students completely lost due to the digital divide in the country.
Even those who have managed to get into visual classes have had mental health problems as they are constantly separated from their friends. Against this background, a new infection caused an alarm.
Earlier, 23 schoolchildren from four schools in Noida were tested for the virus in the past few days.
