With several ceremonies approaching, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday urged people to remain vigilant about coronavirus and to continue following Covid’s appropriate behavior such as wearing a mask and washing hands. In his monthly radio program Mann Ki Baat, Modi said that in the coming day’s Eid, Akshaya Tritiya, the birthday of Bhagwan Parashuram, and Vaishakh Budh Purnima would be celebrated.
Covishield Has Neutrality Limited Against Omicron’s BA.1 Variant, Booster Required: NIV Study
Covishield recipients who do not have a Covid history have shown a small diminishing force against Omicron’s BA.1 variant, a study by the ICMR-National Institute of Virology (ICMR-NIV) found, indicating the need for a booster shot.
Advanced cases detained by Covishield, however, had stronger antibodies in all studied cases, than people recovered and vaccinated against Covid-naïve, “said an ICMR scientist.
Coronavirus Update: 2,593 new cases recorded in the last 24 hours
With 2,593 new cases of coronavirus reported per day, India’s number of cases of COVID-19 increased to 4,30,57,545, and active cases increased to 15,873, according to a Union Health Department report updated Sunday. The death toll rose to 5,22,193 and 44 young people died, according to a statement renewed at 8 am. Active cases accounted for 0.04 percent of total illnesses, and the national recovery rate of COVID-19 was recorded at 98.75 percent, the Department said. An increase of 794 cases of COVID-19 active over 24 hours was recorded.
