Boria Majumdar,BCCI imposed a two-year ban on talk show host and journalist who was found guilty of blackmailing Indian turnstiles goalie Wriddhiman Saha by a three-person committee in connection with a request for an interview.
BCCI on Wednesday banned cricket journalist Boria Majumdar for two years after a disagreement over threatening posts involving Indian cricketer Wriddhiman Saha. India’s turnstile Saha claimed he was intimidated by reporters because he withdrew an interview. The BCCI High Council considered the report of the Commission of Inquiry on Indian Turnstiles.
The BCCI Committee reviewed both Shah’s and Majumdar’s statements and concluded that Majumdar’s actions were indeed intimidating.
The BCCI Committee has recommended the following sanctions to the BCCI High Council:
1. “All cricket matches in India (domestic and international) are banned for two years from gaining accreditation as a journalist.
2. Interviews with all registered players in India banned for two years, and
3. Access to all cricket facilities owned by BCCI and its member associations will be banned for two years.”
“Taking this into consideration, I hope that each association will smoothly implement the above sanctions.” further added.
Earlier, India wicketkeeper Saha shared a screenshot of a threatening message from a reporter. Former Indian coach Ravi Shastri and legendary god Virender Sehwag supported the turnstiles. Saha, days after the episode with threatening comments on Twitter, also explained why he refused to expose reporters.
After shah’s tweet sparked huge debate across the cricket spectrum, journalist Majumdar uploaded a video to Twitter revealing himself to be the accused. On the job site, senior wicketkeeper Shah is representing Hardik Pandya’s Gujarat Titans (GT) team in season 15 of the Indian Premier League (IPL).
