Protests have erupted in several provinces since Wednesday against Agnipath’s plan to recruit members in the army, navy and air force for a period of four years followed by compulsory retirement for many without gratuity and pension benefits. “SRAS will organize protests against the Agnipath program and major organizations in Jantar Mantar from 11 a.m. on June 20. Apply to all organizations for access to Jantar Mantar,” Rai said. Criticizing the plan, Rai said the arrests of peaceful protesters were criticized and urged the central government to withdraw the plan.
“This organization cannot be pressured by the government on charges and arrests,” he said. Activists from various student organizations took to the streets on Friday to protest the Agnipath recruitment process, which led to the closure of some municipal stations and police patrols.
Delhi police said no permission was given for these groups to stage protests.
Even as protests against the plan escalated across the country, Delhi remained silent.
Police have made arrangements to ensure that passengers are not disturbed by the commotion. Several organizations, including Sanyukt Rojgaar Andolan Samiti (SRAS), the Desh Ki Baat Foundation and AISA, issued an invitation to protest on Monday against the plan.
Chhatra-Yuva Sangharsh Samiti (CYSS), Revolutionary Youth Association (RYA), SFI and SVS will also take part in the protest.

Delhi’s Deputy Prime Minister Manis Sisodia on Friday said protests across the country were proof that the country’s youth would never accept Agnipath’s recruitment plan.
Earlier in the day, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) led by Arvind Kejriwal extended its support for the youth demands of the postponement but urged protesters to exercise their right to protest in a democratic manner, instead of resorting to vandalism and arson.
“All young people have the right to join the Army and to give their whole lives for the sake of the country, but today the BJP deprives them of this right.
