Two terrorists were killed in a gunfight with security forces in Gundipora area of Pulwama district, South Kashmir.

The firefight between the security forces and the terrorists started Sunday evening. Two JeM-linked terrorists were killed in the 1 p.m. shooting. IGP Kashmir said two local JeM fighters were killed, including Abid Shah, who was involved with Jammu and Kashmir policeman Riyaz Ahmad of Gudoora Pulwama on May 13. Two AK rifles and other ammunition were recovered from the firing area and the search operation continues. Earlier, an officer overseeing the operation said: ‘As the joint search team cordoned off the suspect location, shots were exchanged, gunfire was returned and an encounter began.’ Yesterday, IGP Kashmir said in a tweet: “Two local terrorists from JeM group caught in an encounter with the killer of our martyr policeman Riyaz Ahmad. Militant JeM fighter Abid Shah had killed our unarmed colleague on 13.5.22”. operations were suspended overnight due to darkness, but the barrier was intact, all entrances and exits were sealed, and operations resumed at first light. It should be noted that this year, in 54 encounters , the security forces managed to kill 86 terrorists, including 26 Pakistanis, and arrested 44 active terrorists and their allies 183. However, 14 civilians and 16 members of the security forces also lost their lives in terrorist attacks in Kashmir this year .
