Hyderabad Teen Raped: Hyderabad police have filed a lawsuit against five minors for allegedly raping a teenage girl in Hyderabad last week.
On 28 May, a Hyderabad teen was raped allegedly in a Mercedes car by 5 boys she met at a bar in the Jubilee Hills area. A police case was filed against five 11th and 12th-grade male students. The incident came to light when the little girl’s father filed a police complaint about the incident. The case has been registered under Sections 354 and 323 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and Section 9 read by Section 10 of the POCSO Act.
According to a report by NDTV, five of the defendants are 11th and 12th-grade students and belong to “politically influential” families. The son of an MLA is believed to be part of the group, but police say he got out of the car and fled before the attack.
The 17-year-old victim had gone to a bar with a friend who had reportedly left early. After that, the victim befriended a man and stayed in a car with him and his friends at around 5:30 pm. They allegedly promised to drop him off at home. The group went to a bakery before the attack. Later, they parked the Mercedes in the Jubilee Hills area and took turns taking it while the others stood guard.
Earlier, the girl claimed that she was assaulted at the bar and therefore sustained injuries to her neck, on the basis that the police initially recorded a case of “ugly modesty”. Then, after a detailed report, a rape case was opened. The girl was only released after the female officers took her statement.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (West District) Joel Davis said the suspects have not been identified so far. “The rape case was registered on the complaint of the victim’s father. Then, following the victim’s testimony, we changed the sections and added sections 9 and 10 of the POCSO Act. It included about 5 defendants,” Davis told ANI.
According to the police, he could not reveal the identity of the suspect and knew only one person’s name. However, according to security camera footage, the police are looking for other suspects. Police are also investigating how the club provided access to minors.
