Jammu and Kashmir Highlights : 3 soldiers injured in blast in shopian
An investigation into the nature and source of the explosion – whether due to a bomb or an already IED (Improvised Explosive Device) implanted inside a car or battery failure – is being investigated, police said.
Srinagar: Three soldiers were injured when a bomb exploded inside their “secretly rented” vehicle in the Shopian district of Jammu and Kashmir today, police said.
“The bomber struck shortly after noon in front of a police station,” said Inspector General of Police in Kashmir.

“The blast happened inside a Sedow-rented car, #Shopian. 03 wounded soldiers were rushed to hospital,” Mr Kumar said on Twitter.
The nature and source of the explosion – whether due to a bomb or already an IED (Improvised Explosive Device) implanted inside a car or a battery malfunction – are being investigated, he said.
The wounded soldiers were taken to hospital. The car was also badly damaged in the blast. Sources said that due to the intensity of the explosion there is little chance of a battery explosion, although it is still under investigation.
There has been an increase in targeted attacks, especially against the Kashmiri Pandits, by terrorists in Jammu Kashmir.

In a recent target attack, a resident was shot dead by terrorists in Keegam in Kashmir district in Shopian last night. Police say Farooq Ahmad Sheikh has been fired. He was injured and was being treated in hospital.
Earlier, on Wednesday, one civilian was injured after being shot dead by terrorists in the Shopian region. Police said the victim was injured and his condition was stable.
“A terrorist has shot dead a resident, Farooq Ahmad Sheikh in Chidren, Keegam in the Shopian area. He injured his leg and was rushed to hospital. His condition is stable,” Kashmir Zone Police said.
According to Jammu and Kashmir police, the incident took place in the Gopalpora area of Kulgam High School. He was taken to hospital where he died.

The incident comes days after Kashmiri TV actor Amreen Bhat was killed by unknown terrorists in Budgam’s Chadoora area of Jammu and Kashmir on May 25, and his 10-year-old niece was injured.
Earlier, Rahul Bhatt, an employee of the Tehsil office in Chadoora district of Budgam, was shot dead by terrorists in Budgam on May 12.

arlier this week, a school teacher – Rajni Bala – died of his injuries after a terrorist attack in the Samba district.
According to Jammu and Kashmir police, the incident took place at the Gopalpora High School in Kulgam. He was taken to hospital where he died
Her husband, Raj Kumar, said that after his death the family wanted the transfer.
“I had asked the education officer at least four times to switch to a safer working environment as my wife’s school was located a short distance away. Even yesterday, we went to the director of education’s office and applied to post it together at the same school, ”said Kumar, HT reported. “Although the order was issued last night, if (the authorities) had heard it in advance, it would not have happened,” he added.
Earlier in May, a TV presenter, Amreen Bhat, was shot dead at a union site.
Another massacre that caused great sorrow in May was that of Kashmir Pandit, Rahul Bhat, which caused concern for the Kashmiri Pandit community for safety.
