Nepal aircraft 9N-AET plane goes missing on Sunday it includes 4 Indians, 3 Japanese and the remaining were Nepalese citizens.
Nepal Aircraft, a small plane, which belongs to a Nepalese commercial airline carries 22 people, and has gone missing, airlines and government officials said. The aircraft bearing call-sign 9 NAET lost contact at 9:55 a.m they further added
The twin-engine Tara Aeroplane is reportedly a regular flight from the tourist destination Pokhara, about 200 km northwest of the capital Kathmandu, to Jomsom, about 80 km northwest.
A helicopter was sent to track the plane. The plane was supposed to land at its destination 25 minutes after takeoff.
According to the air traffic controller at Jomsom Airport, there are unconfirmed reports of loud noise in the area. The plane is believed to have crashed in the Dhaulagiri area.
The three crew members on board are Captain Prabhakar Ghimire, flight attendant Kismi Thapa, and another crew member Utsav Pokharel.
“The aircraft was seen over the sky of Jomsom in Mustang district and then had diverted to Mt Dhaulagiri after which it hadn’t come into contact,” chief district officer Netra Prasad Sharma was quoted as saying by ANI.
According to Nepalese Army spokesman Narayan Silwal, the Nepalese Army’s Mi17 helicopter set out for Mustang’s Lete, the site of the missing Tara plane’s crash.
Mustang is one of the fifth largest mountainous areas of the Himalayas, where pilgrimages to the Muktinath Temple take place. Also known as “land beyond the Himalayas,” the district is located in the Kali Gandaki Valley in the Himalayan region of western Nepal.
The Indian Embassy in Nepal said it was in contact with an Indian family on board.
The country also has some of the world’s most distant and difficult runways, adjacent to snow-capped peaks with an approach that even experienced pilots can challenge.
