Indo-China border dispute 2022, as the military confrontation with China continued, the Indian Army shifted the operational mission of the six divisions from Ladakh to Arunachal Pradesh and shifted focus from the Pakistan Front to China.
Indian forces are regrouping and realigning forces that are better prepared for Pakistani threats than previously faced by the northern border.
During a current visit to the Ladakh region, Army Commander Manoj Pande reviewed the security situation along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) in light of the Chinese threat, the Indian Army relocated six divisions previously deployed to combat terrorism, and then Pakistani wires must be dealt with, PTI News reported.
After this realignment and reorganization process was completed over the past two years, two divisions (about 35,000 men) from their counter-terrorism missions withdrew to supervise their deployment to the Chinese border, according to senior government sources.
A division of the Rashtriya Rifles is said to be, withdrawn from counter-terrorism operation in Jammu and Kashmir and joined three already deployed divisions currently deployed in eastern Ladakh, they said.
Similarly, a division of the Tezpur-based Assam-based Ghajaraj Corps has been liberated from rebel missions in the state, they said, with a new goal to protect the Chinese border in the northeast.
Sources say that without this facility there would be no military force invovlved in counter-terrorism operations in Assam.
The 17th Mountain Shock Corps, which previously performed operations in the Ladakh region, are now confined to the northeast with one additional division based in Jharkhand. Previously, divisions were assigned to offensive operations across the Western Front.
Uttar Pradesh’s two army divisions were assigned to the Northern Command of Operation Ladakh. According to them, previously these two units had been instructed to conduct military operations on the Western Front in case of a clash.
Similarly, they claim, the air raid divisions headquartered in Uttarakhand have been transferred to Central Command to oversee the entire central region where the Chinese have repeatedly attempted invasions.
According to sources, the realignment has resulted in the deployment of two of the Army’s four strike corps with offensive units to the Chinese border, and from April to May 2022, three of them assumed primary responsibility for Pakistan.
They also added that India’s significant deployment had informed the Chinese military that any attempt to change the status quo in LAC would be futile.
After a massive deployment of Chinese troops on the Indian border, India did the same, abandoned its soldiers and sent about 50,000 troops there.
