Forest Department records: More than 3,000 trees will be removed from the Delhi Metro’s Phase 4 line from Janakpuri West to R.K. Ashram. The route will be 29.26 km long and will have 22 stations.
Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) was approved by the Department of Forestry to fell or replant 2,940 trees in the North Forest Division, as well as 450 trees in the South Forest Division. Permission was issued by the Deputy Forest Conservator (North) under the Delhi Tree Conservation Act, 1994.
By order, of the total 2,940 trees in the Northern Territory, 1,963 will be replanted to the park in Haiderpur and parts of Outer Ring Road. The remaining 977 are under the cutting program.
The Deputy Forest Conservator (south) also approved the removal of 450 trees from the Khanpur section to the Sangam Vihar proposed 23.6 km long line between Aerocity and Tughlakabad.
Trees will open a metro line between Janakpuri West and Mukarba Chowk, as well as Mukarba Chowk to Derawal Nagar.
However, 30,000 seedlings will also be planted as compensation for flooded areas in Yamuna. 20,000 seedlings will be planted between the ITO bridge and the NH-24 highway, as well as another 10,000 seedlings between Geeta Colony Bridge and Shantivan Drain.

Trees will be planted in the park in Haiderpur and in the area along Outer Ring Road. Compensation for the planting of 30,000 seedlings, will be done in the Yamuna floodplains – 20,000 seedlings between the ITO and NH-24 bridges, and another 10,000 seedlings between Geeta Colony Bridge and Shantivan Drain.

The proposed Janakpuri West-RK Ashram Metro line was approved by the MoEFCC to divert 5.2 hectares of deforested land, approximately 1,230 trees, to a portion of forest. North for the construction of an underground station at Krishna Park and a high tunnel between Keshopur and Mukarba Chowk. Permits to divert forest land are granted under the forest(Conservation) Act, 1980.
In the Khanpur section to Sangam Vihar the proposed 23.6-km long municipal line between Aerocity and Tughlakabad, the Deputy Forest Reserve (South) has approved the removal of 450 trees.
Of these, 299 will be replanted, and 151 will be cut down. A total of 4,500 plants will be planted in Rohini compensation plantations.
