Radhe Shyam has had a strong start in the international market, but early reports suggest that the romantic drama will struggle to find an audience in the Hindi belt.
Radhe Shyam with Prabhas and Pooja Hegde hit theaters on Friday. The film had a great opening. The gross collection from cinema booths is Rs 79 crore according to business analyst Ramesh Bala. He shared on Twitter:
“Highest post-pandemic movie gross at 79cr!” Previously, he also shared that the Hindi version of Radhe Shyam made a bargain of around Rs 5 crore. In a tweet, he mentioned, “Early Estimates Hindi version of #RadheShyam for All-India Day 1 – ₹5 Cr Nice.”
He also shared that the film got off to a good start in the United States and Australia. He wrote on Twitter, “#RadheShyam surpasses $1 million in #USA. Fourth entry for #Prabhas into the Million Dollar Club after #Baahubali, #Baahubali2 and #Saaho.”
According to a report from Box Office India, the Prabhas star had an overwhelming box office response, especially in non-Telugu speaking states.
But the Telugu version of the film raked in around Rs 30 crore on the opening day. Earlier, film producer and business analyst Girish Johar predicted that Radhe Shyam’s collection in the Hindi belt might be a little less, citing him that “promotions in the Hindi belt have been a bit muted”. He said, “There is no doubt that the film will be great in the southern states. But in the Hindi belt, I estimate the start of the film at around Rs 3.5-4 crore. Film critics criticized the film, which revolves around a palmist played by Prabhas. Shubhra Gupta of the Indian Express gave the film a one-star rating.
In her review, she wrote: “Prabhas watchers expect this that we are swallowing, hooking, spinning and swallowing so many plumb lines, and constantly lifting our jaws off the ground.”
